I actually just logged in to ask if anyone has ever bought high durometer rubber rolls to replace the original battleship linoleum and used a tool to groove it like the original flooring?

I am in the process of attempting this. I ordered some sample rubber and will be creating a metal slotted guide to run a woodworkers V notching tool through at the most appropriate depth to replicate the original look.

I'll post back with whether this idea goes up in flames or works out.
