| Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | What engine are you planning on using? There are directions on here in using a GM 2 ton front axle, adding GM P-30 spindles. If you want a wider front axle, modern GM P-30 and 3500 have heavy capacity front axle with ff 14 bolt or D-70/80 rear for which higher ratios/disc brakes are available.

'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed. '55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
