On my '49, I put the battery in the stock location. The floor was a solid piece, so I made the bottom of the battery tray drop out. There are kits like these made since then. I also got some remote jumper terminals from Cole-Hersee. Also had a disconnect which I mounted in the frame, inside the passenger front fender. It was a bit of a reach. Whatever you do, the battery will need to be serviced / cleaned at regular intervals or the life of it will be shortened.
