OK, I just looked in my 1969 Parts Book and what do you know...this 1954 engine was still available!
So now the question is, is a date code ending in "8" a 1958 or 1968 date???

I was wondering the same thing, a single digit number for date code year seams a bit confusing. I.E. 54 or 64
A lot of the assembly line workers are long gone and if there are a few still alive, they probably don't use a computer.
