I've seen some very stout transmission fail because they were abused. I can imagine my mother making a T-5 last forever behind a 572.
How do you expect to drive? If you aren't going to 'hot rod' it you might be fine. If you're going to work it, I would not expect that transmission to last.
Joker: Sallee Chevrolet lists a Goodwrench 350 starting at about $1500. Goodwrench 454 is just over $4000. I checked these numbers for a friend just the other day. These were replacement type motors, not performance motors.
