You will be surprised how much of that orange will disappear with some 0000 steel wool. As far as the really bad spots are concerned, you can polish it down to bare metal, prime it with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer, high build primer, sand baby butt smooth and spray it with what we call "Mexican Chrome". It comes in a rattle can. It is just chrome spray paint.
(BTW, throughout my life, some of my closest friends have been from Mexico. I have learned a lot from them.)
