Sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart. I bought a carb that looked like the one on my 40 216. It fit on the 235 stock intake, so I couldn't figure out why the one on the 216 intake fit. I took the carb off the 216 and found it was a 235 carb that someone had reworked to fit the 2 11/16 studs on the 216. So I now have 2 235 carbs when I thought I had 2 216 carbs. I'm sure I'll buy something in the future that will be the wrong parts and will even out my luck.
