I guess I was under some kind of impression that the truck would not necessarily be overly safe as is, and that replacing the older generation equipment such as brakes, etc, would be much more difficult than getting newer stuff. So, I thought I should just make the switch in the beginning.
I like your idea better though, just try it first and see if it is what I expected, or if I need to change something. Although I have done a fair amount of fabrication work as a hobby, I am not a fan of the frustration that accompanies it!
I would like to keep the door open for the conversion at least from a research purpose of gathering as much info as possible to know what is involved etc., and what I should look for if I do go ahead with the conversion.
I just like these old trucks, and more importantly, want to be safe in one. Anyone else with ideas/opinions is certainly welcome too!
