I put one of these into a rock climbing jeep about 6 yrs. ago. Man, it was indestructable, but a racing transmission, absolutely not. It was a truck tranny, and man, it was like shifting a 50 year old uhaul van. It was a bear that would not always find 3rd if you were in a hurry, not fun for cruising at all.
I agree with the others, tell him to switch to a close ration muncie, or go with something crate based from summit. Otherwise the slop he will feel on the street alone will make him think he bought a piece of junk.
