OK. Making a long story short. I've got two 292 engines. Both runners; one (the original) out of my '64 C20. The other a "mystery" Mr. Goodwrench crate motor. I say "mystery" because I am unable to identify it's age by the casting number on it (another longish story).
Anyway. All the specs I have, or can get my hands on, indicate that since the 60's the motor went through many changes. The only change I'm interested in, is the crank. Reason being. The only reason I removed the original engine was because 1) It was newer and free, and 2) because the nose on the original crank was bent. Still ran and performed great. But ate harmonic balancers, and fan belts like candy. frown
So. Can anyone say with any authority that the crank was unchanged over the years? I'm strongly inclined to believe not. But would rather not build up my original, then decommission the truck dropping the crank out of it, and installing it in my old engine. Only to find it's different, and I need to wait for an order for a new one to arrive. smile

Thanks! smile
