"Automatic transmissions are smarter than all drivers and most mechanics!" That was one of Dad's favorite sayings. He was the first man in Nashville Tennessee to work on automatic transmissions, back in the late 1940's and he fixed thousands of them over his lifetime. He had a very good point! It's virtually impossible to get an automatic in the wrong gear, no matter how hard someone tries!
