I was also a little scared on my first disassembly/assembly. I had the benefit of a mechanic-friend being with me. However, he had never dealt with an enclosed driveshaft; and, I think he was a little amazed. We got it done - changing from 3.90 to 3.55 R&P.
Go slowly, ask questions here, post pictures (if necessary, and if you can).
