There are a few options you can look into. One is to retain the stock pedal and try to adapt some bellcrank and linkage to the new carb. You can also look into aftermarket pedal/cable setups. I put a Lokar "eliminator" billet pedal in my '54 Bel-Air and I like it. It got rid of the old rod linkage. You've got to drill 4 small holes and cut one 1.5" by 9/16" slot in the floor to make it fit. Pedal arm goes through slot. Brackets and cable run from underside of floorboard up to carb. Just make sure pedal arm doesn't hit any linkage or lines. The pedal/brackets/36" cable setup is about 150 bucks.
