I home built mine and had my strip flush like he described and I had to die grind a few bolt holes to get it to line up perfectly. I wasn’t about to remove all those spot welds and start over. Here’s a picture from Brad’s 3/4 build. It show the location of the bed wood and its corresponding mounting holes.
