For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 510 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 510 | About 2 months ago I replaced the points distributor in my 64 C10's 292 with an HEI distributor and Accel Super coil. Since then that sucker has run great! It's been a little chilly around here (-2 to -5F in the mornings) but the old beast has started up and run without a bit of protest (well, runnin the 1-barrel with no choke sorta requires a little warmup time...but it still fires right off.) And I haven't had to touch it since I set the timing.
When I had the points distributor in there I was always havin to re-adjust the dwell and sometimes the damned things would just slam shut for no good reason. I figger the bushings in it were shot, which is why I sprang for the new unit. But I'm real glad I did, cuz it's made a huge difference in the way it runs.
If anyone is considering doing this, I can't say enough good about it. | | | |
