I bought "modern type" ends to replace the socket, springs, etc on my '51 3100 tie rod. Screwed right on the existing threads - easy. The existing ball had to be removed from the other steering part - just grind the weld, drill a hole, stick a punch in the hole, support, pound. No problem. Bought them at Chevy Duty, I believe.
