The pics were from my '51. I don't know if there's a difference, but I doubt it. No need for a ball joint on the pedal, as the pedal's on a pivot to the floor.
[on edit] I looked at the'47-'54 FAM (which is basically a collection of '54 documents) and on Section 6, sheet 3.00, it shows the accelerator rod with a ball fit into a socket on the pedal. That page is dated 5-1-53, so maybe a change was made about that date. My pedal definitely has a pinned joint to the accelerator rod.
