The 4819 head was used for 228,248 & 270 GMCs thru 1963, but the 7412 head was only used on early 228s, so they are probably right about compression. Also be careful about swapping rocker shafts, pushrods etc from one head to the other as there were some changes over the years. You may save some grief by looking for another 4819 head.
