If it was me , I would put together a motor/trans. that has dist. and manifold (or headers) that you want to use and (with the cab in place) set the engine into frame and set it on blocks . then you can make sure it will clear the firewall, steering , radiator ,etc. Most guys then fabricate mount brackets coming off of the frame but I've seen some that come UP from the Mustange 2 crossmember . This seems to me to be a more stable way of holding the engine, as long as the engine mounts line up somewhat with the top of the crossmember . Ths would eliminat the weight of the engine "twisting" on the framerails , remember when you fab mounts that the rubber will compress and let things settle down some with time so allow for that . This happened to me on my '38 , I had around 1/2" between manifolds and frame and eventually it would rattle on the frame - very anoying !
