For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 259 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 259 | I kind of did on my 50. What I mean is that I used one piece glass in 1952 doors but not with the metal outer frame around the glass. I also went with power windows. You just have to add the front vertical track guide to the doors so the glass is guided in the channel when the door is lowered. I just took an extra set of rear track guide and welded to L-shaped brackets to space it out from the door jam "by the hinges" and spot welded it into place.
I have a 1951 door out back right now that I was thinking of taking my Plasma cutter to and remove the outer door skin. I'm going to make up some vertical tracks for later projects so I might also play around with it and take some of my 1948-1950 door glass with metal frame and see if they will work with the newer glass mechanisms. This might be a month or more down the road.
