Hi Marshall. What kind of a booster unit do you plan to use? I'm using a booster/MC/pedal assembly from an '85 S-10 blazer. There is an "H" shaped indent on the front of my '55 and mine is kind of mounted in the middle of that. In this position, the pedal is just to the right of the steering column.
