I have two front and two rear single action lever shocks that I'd like to service. They're extras from a '48 3100 (Thanks Jeler!), but I can't get the filler caps off. The left side F and R are are rusted solid. The right side F and R rear appear to be operational.
My plan was to service them and the shocks on my '47 3100 and use the best four. I believe there is a lead washer under the filler cap. I can find vendors that rebuild these shocks, but nobody sells parts? Minimally, I wanted to change the oil in the shocks. It sounds like hydraulic jack oil or ATF has worked for others.
Anyone have any success with disassembling/reassembling these shocks?
