Of course some Canadian GMC models did come with 235s... and 216s. Just saying. To use those USA designed engines probably required a different front crossmember. But you said it's a USA truck. So it came with a 228, 248 or 270... and thus the need for the adapter plate. Or swap crossmembers from a Chevy. Tim or somebody has a good graphic showing the differences in the crossmembers. Tim?
