Great idea. You might look at the T-Tops latches for an '83-91 Camaro or Firebird to hold it down. The latches are fairly straight forward and most even have locks on them for security. Not to mention that GM made a go-zillion of 'em, so bone yard scores are plentifull. Have fun, be safe.
