Since you are going to have power loss every time you use a pair of gears or a planatary set, wouldn't it make more sense to have the highest gear (sixth in this case) be direct, and then determine the correct rear gear ratio, and then the rest of the gears in the transmission?

I guess I need an engineer to tell me this design is driven by something other than marketing.
