I just discovered that I made another mistake in assembling my truck (53 chevy 3800). I found two pieces of metal that I was somehow convinced were fender braces for the rear fenders. But when I tried to figure out how they fit I realized that they were for the [/u]front[u] fenders! Of course the front fenders are already installed, so I have two questions.

Do I really need them? The front fenders seem awfully solid as they are.

If I need to install them, can I do it without removing the fenders? It was such a chore getting them on in the first place that I dread having to redo that.

And this might really be mistake number 122. I've lost count.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again.
