One option would be to go to the front end sheet metal used on the 1 1/2 ton and bigger trucks. The fenders are wider, and you wouldn't have to butcher up a steering and suspension system that works. You might have to do something about the bigger wheel opening that the big truck fender has, but cobbling on sheet metal is a lot easier than whittling on a frame.
