Just posted the engine serial number info to your question about the clutch... then saw this post. Anyway, the first three digits of the engine serial number that you see stamped on the pad by the distributor decodes it (the lower end) to a '52 Series 3100 216ci Truck Engine. See: Early Chevy Engine Serial Number ID. The head casting number IDs that as a '54-55 235 truck head. Interesting combination! See: Early Chevy Block & Head Casting Numbers.
