You think those staples are tough? How about the ones which got punched through the inner fenders to hold the anti-squeak in place? The tag ends even rolled over just like a stapler does for pieces of paper.
I wondered why they did it that way, but then I guess that there was no such thing as a long lasting adhesive up to the task back then.
