Welcome newbie! We were all newbies at one time. Congrats on finding a 1950 6400. I would enjoy a big bolt if I had the space. A 6400 is a 161" wheelbase 2-ton. Look on the serial no./ data tag on the driver's door post. It should have the gross vehicle weight (GVW) and it's probably 16000. The original engine would have been a 235. Does it have a 2-speed rear axle? Grain box? PTO? Hoist?

Good luck. Some of the big truck parts are harder to find, but many times brake shoes can be relined. Springs and small parts may have to come from a salvage yard or truck dismantler who sells parts. You can post under Parts Wanted on the Swap Meet section.

Lots of scanned shop manuals and vehicle specifications on this website: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1948_51truck/index.htm Peruse around and look for the info you need.
