To clarify, I preferred to use setting tape whenever I could, and that's what I'll use on mine when I get to that point,but when you are replacing glass for a living, sometimes due to time constraints and the materials provided you have to take shortcuts unfortunately. I mainly wanted to stress centering the glass as I have seen glass that broke because the channel was cocked, placing it in a bind. Also, lower channels continued to be used, but were only a few inches long, necessitating that they be glued since tape didn't provide the necessary strength. The newer cars and trucks have a narrower channel also. I just wanted to share some of my experience gained over 35 years or so in the business, under all conditions. John
