You can wire the HEI any way you want as long as the engine is on top dead center, #1 piston, with valves closed. Just figure out where you want #1 plug wire to be, then drop distbutor in so rotor is pointing at that spot. Then wire according to the firing order. Most have the rotor pointing at #1 cylinder, but it doesn't really matter. Joe
