Here's something to ponder about your looped heater bypass hose. Does the factory heater core for your model have the significant restriction in one of the core nipples in the form of extreme crimping of its end like what came in late '50s trucks?
This would give significant credence to HRL's recommendation
of adding a restriction in your loop.
