Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!
| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 23 Member | | Member Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 23 | The bellhousing on my '54 has a big crack in it near the driver side motor mount, so I bought another bellhousing that looked in okay shape. Upon getting it back to the garage I noticed two things.
One, the stud that the clutch linkage pivots on is entirely absent on the new one. The boss is there in the casting but no hole was ever bored. Do you think I'll be able to drift the old one out and drill the new bellhousing to accept it?
Second, there is an pointed alignment stud at each motor mount attachment point on my old one, but none on the new one. The bolt hole locations appear to be the same. Are the studs really necessary, or were they just assembly line aids?
Many thanks for any answers, and all help you fine people have given me so far.
Seek results, not perfection. Remember this is a truck, not a Rolex watch.
