Dad said it very well back in the 1950's- - - - -"Getting repair work at a service station is like getting brain surgery at a drug store!" I stay busy in nine southeastern states now, investigating claims of improper repair work and subsequent damage to people's cars done by places like Firestone, Goodyear, and other tire stores, oil change and "quick service" businesses. On the other side of the coin, dealer service departments are often in cahoots with the sales end of the business- - - -as soon as a car is paid for and/or out of warranty, it's time to sell the customer another new car. The prices to keep the "old" one on the road suddenly gets VERY expensive! A good independent shop with a long history of providing good service at reasonable cost is hard to find, but doing business with those places has always been the best choice.
