If you look at the ID tag that Tim has posted, the contract number begins with DA. Military tactical (and commercial design) vehicles were purchased under contracts negotiated by the Department of the Army Tank and Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan. Agencies would submit their requirements and specifications to them and be included in established orders. Navy vehicles were painted navy gray up until the mid 80's when the standard colors were changed to white. Fred
