cmayna: here’s my painted horn button. The chrome on it was dead and the button had a few small dents in it. I sandblasted the button and worked out the dents. I then sprayed it with three lights coats of grey. Then I sprayed it with two light coats of black. Next came the tricky part: using some 320 grit, I wet sanded the lettering and the triple lines and the outer perimeter feature line, LIGHTLY AND VERY CAREFULLY and WITH VERY GOOD LIGHTING, sanding thru those two top coats of black to expose the underlying grey. I will admit that on my first attempt my sanding was too aggressive and I had to repeat the whole process, there’s a steep learning curve here to develop the technique to not sand those high spots too much. Once satisfied, I shot the whole horn button w two coats of clear. It has held up perfectly....I did it about 5 years ago and I think it still looks pretty good as you can see by the picture I just took. It was a good winter project, took some time, and at least one 12 pack. Painted Horn Button Good luck, Dave
