I am not sure of the Australian built (Canadian or Holden?) bodies, but the US made trucks of this era had the battery under the floor on the passenger side (left side is drivers side). Originally, there was no hinged door to remove the battery, but there is an access panel that can be removed to see the battery. Battery removal requires removing the floor panel. A hinged access would have been a great idea!
