Hello All,
I have a 1.5 ton (30CWT) 1940 Chevrolet truck. the battery is located under the right hand side of the floor. To access the battery a sheet metal lid with a hinge is lifted up.
My truck was originally built for the Australian Army, Then a farmer had the truck before me. Was the sheet metal lid in the floor a factory standard or was it a convenient modification for the Army mechanics or the farmer?
When the sheet metal lid it is lifted I can see some very rusty remnants of a possible batter. Two thick battery-type cables are hanging near the box.
Can someone with a similar truck please take some photographs and measurements of the battery box and post them up?
Is the battery box a part that can be bought from a Chevrolet parts supplier?
What brand of 6 volt battery do you use and what are the specification codes printed on your battery? As hinted by the very rusty possible battery box my truck did not come with a battery so I have nothing to identify a battery type with.
Kind regards
Lionel
