I used a drill press vise to hold the outer end of the pin and used a 17/64 bit to drill from the back side. That was enough to remove the flair on the back of the pin and it could be pulled out the front after drilling into the pin about 1/4 inch. I then used a bench vise as a press to force the new knobs onto the new pin. Protecting the knob face with a rag Worked great!
