Furd big blocks have several names, other than "First On Race Day". The old 332/352/390/406/427 engines are called "F.E." engines by Ford guys. Then there's the whole series of 351's- - - -the Windsor is a raised block version of the 260/289/302 line, with a one inch taller deck height to accommodate a longer stroke crankshaft. 351W cylinder heads will bolt onto a 302. The only difference is the fact that 351's use 1/2" diameter head bolts instead of 7/16". Then there's the "351 Cleveland", a bigger block engine with much more efficient cylinder heads than the Windsor. There's also a downsized version of the 400 cubic inch big block called a 351M (modified). The really big-inch Ford engines are the 460's which have a block casting all their own. In some situations back in the late 1970's when the tree huggers were in full panic mode and the EPA was changing their rules on a monthly basis, it was necessary to know where a Ford engine was manufactured in order to get the right tune-up specifications for emission control purposes.
