Chevy was in the game early on. I did some work on a 34 Chevy master sedan a couple of years ago. I had what is called a starterator (look it up). You press down on the accelerator pedal like a Buick but it doesn't have an electrical switch on the carburetor like a Buick.
It engages like a stomp starter and has a vacuum chamber that disengages the starter when it starts up.
It worked great, it also had the famous knee action front end (that was worn out).
