Your switch matches the one on my '38. The hot wire from the headlight switch connects to the center lug. If the switch fits the holes and works, use it. You are correct that it's a simple toggle. If you have a battery and a spare light socket it's easy to test which lug is which. On mine I used the top lug for high beam and the bottom for low beam.
