Well, it looks like everything is mostly OK. I did as you suggested, watched the BAT relay close and noted that the BAT voltage went from battery voltage (12.7) up to 14-something. What RPM range would you expect the generator to start charging the battery? I always thought that charging started just a little above idle, but did not amount to much current until the RPM got "above" idle.
