The connection from the charging system to the ammeter is on the wrong side. The only wire that attaches to the upstream side of the ammeter is the one to the battery cable connection at the starter. Everything else- - - -ignition switch, light switch, fuse block, and charging system wiring needs to attach to the other side. That way, ALL the current passes through the ammeter, charge and discharge.
