You guys are good. Yes, it is a 'mig' welder without the shielding gas. I just use the flux core wire since I don't have the money for the upgrade.
From some of the responses here, I believe it may be a combination of the molten flux and too thin of a heat sink. Perhaps I can find something a little thicker that will work better. Thanks for the help.
