I do not know when that cam became standard in the 235 engines. Maybe someone else knows. The Zenith 228 was used in many applications, over many years. What engine were they originally used on? You might be able to find variable jets for those 228s, If they are for a 228 GMC, with the variable jets they might match up OK with a 235 - but, they also might be "too much carbs".
