Have a friend that just went thru this with his '50 1/2 ton street rod, they tried the glass fenders first and had them all the way up to clear coat and buffed and could never get them to fit then scraped them and bought steel from Yogi's and spent another month getting them to fit right. If the original fenders aren't rusted hammer them out, you will be much happier in the end.
