There are advantages to both types of finishes.
Powder coating isn't cheap generally about $75.00 to $100.00 (depending upon where in the good Ole U.S. of A you're located) per wheel for balsting and coating. Powder coating is hard finish and can be had in a number of gloss levels and is very durable. The disadvantage is that if it chips, you have to have the wheel reblasted and recoated for it to look good. Also matching powder coating colors to your paint job can be frustrating as many powder coating shops have a limited general color selection. Fro example if you wanted to match your wheels to a Guards Red truck you would have to select the closest approximate match. Hope this is helpful.
