Joe, you might also try removing the speaker cover and ashtray assembly to give you an easier way to stick your hand and arm back in there. Don't forget to disconnect your battery ground cable as it's very easy to dislodge the ammeter wire and cause a commotion. And band aids aren't a bad idea either!
